Call Schedule 

  • PGY-1: No call responsibilities during the first year of training.
  • PGY-2: Increased at-home call responsibilities, providing comprehensive exposure and experience in inpatient rehabilitation care.
  • PGY-3: Gradual reduction in at-home call frequency as residents advance in clinical proficiency and autonomy.
  • PGY-4: Minimal at-home call responsibilities during the final year, allowing for enhanced focus on subspecialty electives, leadership, and transition to independent practice.

Didactics

Every Wednesday, residents and faculty will participate in a variety of didactic topics that may include subject matter expert teachings, lectures, journal clubs, and peer-driven learning initiatives. Didactics, research, seminar attendance, and presentation at educational conferences are protected time.

Self-Assessment Exam for Residents (SAE-R)

Residents participate in the AAPM&R SAE-R in their PGY-2 through PGY-4 years.

Simulation Center

The University of North Texas Health Science Center features the first immersive virtual reality simulation center in Texas.

Research

Designated research days with program partners and academic affiliates.

Workshops

In addition to the core curriculum, the program offers a range of supplementary courses and interactive workshops designed to strengthen residents’ clinical knowledge and procedural skills. These experiences include, but are not limited to, focused training in Electromyography (EMG), Musculoskeletal Ultrasound, Anatomy Lab, and Botulinum Toxin (Botox) Injection Workshops, providing valuable hands-on practice that complements formal didactic instruction.

Courses

Residents will participate in journal club, clinical cases, high-yield teaching presentations, morbidity and mortality conferences, and grand rounds.
